The “International Dialects of English Archive” (IDEA) was founded in 1997 by Paul Meier, a dialect coach, and it is now housed on the web by the Theatre Department at the University of Kansas (who employs Meier). Recordings of “Comma Gets a Cure” or “The Rainbow Passage” provide speech samples from speakers with a variety of backgrounds.
